My favorite is the old Ruger .44 Magnum carbine. He looks like he's grown 10/22. But it's not the easiest gun to eat, and that's what we're talking about today - Glock magazine features.

Glock magazines are often attached to Glock pistols. There are other pistols like the Mossberg MC1 that work with Glock mags - but we're talking PCCs and PDWs right now. Glock magazines are so respected that many pistols of this type are built from the ground up to take advantage of Glock's success.

PCCs are guns. These are carbines, which are the calibers most commonly associated with guns. For the purposes of this discussion, we are talking about the 7.62×39 or 5.56 rifles, or the smaller rifle cartridges that are becoming more popular.

No one seems to agree on what PDW is. Is it a small gun that shoots a small high-powered cartridge? Some people use the term PDW to refer to a weapon that is normally shaped like a rifle but is called a pistol instead (because we can't legally call it a carbine when it's a pistol). The term PDW is loosely spread and can include precision SBRs, compact pistols that fire rifle calibers, and devices that add functionality by placing the pistol in the chassis or replacing the top.

This is a deep philosophical debate for those in the gun culture. Consider the premise. If you could only have one pistol caliber platform, what would it be? Do you decide based on the device? Do you make the decision based on the magazine?

Some of the most popular rifles in these categories now have their own magazines. Selling something that keeps you coming back to them is usually the best for the brand. For this, some weapons work on their own kernels. CZ's Scorpion. Small SIGs.

Ask for Ruger. They'll say no and stick to their guns so to speak, but imagine how many mini-14s and mini-30s would be sold if the AR or AK came out of the mag. Ruger knows it too, and has gone in a different direction with new launches (more on that later).

Who makes the absolute best magazine in terms of reliability and functionality? Maybe it's Glock, maybe not. But Glock magazines work even after abuse.

Perhaps we should look at it from a different angle. What if we wanted to make a gun that used one of the most widely available pistol cores? The Glock 9mm still wins.

Honestly, it shouldn't be a Glock mag. The point of this cracker is that you have a rifle with the same magazine as a pistol.

Let's take a step back to the late 19th century. If you thought ammo was hard to come by now... supply lines were thin especially in the areas. A muzzleloader was a practical choice for many, as only the raw materials of the ammunition were required. However, the cartridge has changed that. If you have a rifle and a pistol that fire the same cartridge, you only need to get the same ammunition.

Those original pistol-caliber carbines, the old Henry and Winchester, were underpowered compared to the larger rifles and rotating blocks, but they worked. Colt 1873 and Winchester 1873 were a good match for the same round.

PCC fans are familiar with PSA. They make excellent rifles and pistols. Like many other AR manufacturers, they have updated their platform to include 9mm ARs that run on Glock mags. These are available in both rifle and pistol configurations.

Pistol-caliber ARs offer a solid alternative for anyone who regularly trains with an AR-15. The weapon manual is very similar. Muscle memory is easily transferred. The main changes seem strange at first, but the transition is very easy.

And 9 mm rocks from a long barrel. Almost all of them are fired from a 9mm 5" barrel. This is usually indicated by the muzzle velocity numbers on the box. So having more barrels to hold the burning powder usually results in higher velocities.

The Palmetto State AR-9 is a great choice for those who own a Glock 19 or 17. Or a stack of G17 cores. Or a drum?

If you want an above-the-line, AR-based Glock-fed 9mm Parabellum, the Wilson Combat AR9 might be just the thing. They are not that common. I haven't shot one yet, but I have shot some Wilson Combat pistols. They work. From their 1911s to their Beretta models to their rifles and pistols, Wilson Mbat has built a solid reputation.

Kel-Tech never achieved the polish that defines Wilson, but they created some guns that any of the companies on this list would be proud to call their own. And the Sub 2000 is a prime example.

Sub2K can be collected. Although not the easiest to charge, it is compact. The design is ridiculously huge. In my opinion, this is the perfect truck gun. With a 33 round Glock mag, this would be a formidable weapon.

My only gripe with the Sub2Q is that the top rail needs to be empty to ride effectively. This tool screams for a red dot, but it's not always practical. You can put a laser on the underside of a rail like the Viridian X5L. This makes it an effective handheld and can add light and lasers.

The Ruger PC Carbine is another very popular option. The gun includes an adaptation that the old Ruger Mini never intended.

Ruger incorporates the functionality that makes PCCs so versatile. They are also suitable guns in their own right. They proved reliable. They are still reasonably priced (if in stock). They are easy to service and run consistently… the list goes on.

Like many of these rifles, the Ruger PCC has ample rail space for adding accessories. And the magazines on this gun are interchangeable, which can be further customized. But really - GLOCK magazines.

The Banshee is also available in a variety of configurations. They are all essentially the same concept – a compact evolution of the AR platform. Many use 9mm Glock mags.
