P80 Glock 40 - We've all dreamed of our own time machine. Some of us go back to see historical events, visit distant ancestors, or remember next week's lottery winnings. But the true gun enthusiasts among us usually go to a place where you can buy classic, rare or historic firearms. Once you had your hands full with pre-1986 machine guns, most collectors turned to their primary interests. One of those guns for me would be a new in box GLOCK Gen 1 G17 with a low serial number. Today, Lipsey's and GLOCK bring us the next best thing: the GLOCK P80 Classic Edition, which takes you back to where it all started.

First in 1981 and then in 1982, Gaston submitted the Glock G17 pistol to the Austrian military arms contract. This pistol won the trials and was designated the Pistol 80 or P80. The first GLOCK was available for purchase in the United States in 1986 with the G17, followed shortly thereafter by the G17 Gen 2 in 1988. Compared to all other generations of GLOCKs sold in the US, first generation GLOCK 17s are very few and far between. in circulation.

Over the course of three years, Lipsey worked with GLOCK to create as close a replica of the original Pistol 80 as possible. Due to environmental regulations, the Tenifer finishing process used on the slide is no longer allowed, so the P80 is treated with Gen 3 nDLC. Early P80 pistols also used a pencil barrel, later a 14mm barrel was used. Austrian P80 guns are marked by a serial number only on the slide and barrel, not on the frame as in the US.

While the P80 designation obviously predates the 80% manufacturing company, this pistol is 100% manufactured by GLOCK and distributed exclusively by Lipsey.

For GLOCK fans and collectors, this is the closest you can get to one of Gaston's original guns.

For some reason, the ATF does not allow importation of the egg carton ammo organizer that was in the original storage boxes. The only difference I noticed was the wave of finger grooves that appeared on the newer generation GLOCKs.

The pebbled grip texture may not be as tactile as the rough texture finish found on some later guns, but it's fine. Classic 80's style.

The P80 comes with a basic smooth finish that I can use on other models.

Returning to its roots, the P80 features a smooth trigger guard, no finger grooves in the grip, and cutouts for removing the magazine in adverse conditions.

Originally designed with a single-pin system in the frame, a two-pin design appeared when the .40 S&W chambered models debuted. Like the Gen 5 models (and the original PISTOLE 80), the Classic Edition P80 once again features a single pin setup.

Outside of the GLOCK, only one P80 pistol exists in the United States, at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. Unfortunately, it is not currently on display. Due to the requirements to mark the ATF series on the frame, it was impossible to import the PISTOLE 80 into the US.

As a GLOCK fan, I feel it's my duty to buy the P80 - I love the classic retro feel and style. Holding this gun takes me back a few decades to make me the person I am today. When the leaders of the 80s guided my career choices, hobbies and lifestyle. Now all I want is stonewashed jeans, a black Toyota SR5 crew cab and wavy hair with gold accents that makes all the girls swoon. How many people have heard of the custom gun company Polymer80 (P80)? I heard about Polymer80 when I came into the office last year and the guys were putting a P940SS slide on a Glock 43 Gen 3.

After learning more about their company, I came up with a (list of considerations) for our readers before purchasing anything from the P80.

I recommend using it as your own personal buyer's guide to understand how they can improve your pistols.

It is important to always check where you are buying gun parts, especially when it comes to Glock parts. Glock, as everyone knows, is the most popular handgun brand in the world and has more replacement parts and alternatives than any other handgun brand.

It's great that you can always access parts to customize the gun in any way imaginable, but there are a lot of parts that aren't specifically made to Glock standards. This creates many problems, but for starters if you install parts not designed for the gun it can cause serious injury or death. It probably won't fire, but if everything except the slide or trigger assembly is OK, pulling the trigger can cause an explosion in your hand.

OEM Glock means that the parts listed are certified by Glock to the exact specifications that Glock uses for each pistol. Polymer 80 is an OEM Glock company that manufactures Glock parts with utmost precision and safety in mind.

Polymer80 made its name by providing over 80% pistol kits to create custom pistols that fit Glock and Sig Sauer pistols. For example, if you want to create deeper front and rear rifling on your Glock 17 or 19, you can swap out the slide for the P80 PF940SC slide. Whether you want to replace the grip, slide, barrel or spring, the P80 has parts to match your Glock or Sig.

Over the past year or so, we've noticed a lot of attention paid to the P80 in the gun community, and most people I know are raving about their new custom pistols. With their growing success, P80 now sells fully built custom pistols along with their PF Series pistols, pistol conversion kits and AR-15 parts.

Polymer80 sets itself apart from the competition with an emphasis on creating custom pistols with a variety of features to fit any style of shooter. The first time I learned how to load ammo, building a gun from scratch is easier than it sounds.

Building a pistol with Polymer80 parts gives it a completely different feel than most pistols with unique custom features like the stainless steel locking block rail system (LBRS) and stainless steel rear rail module system (RRMS).

I think it's best to start where Polymer80 started, the P80 framesets. There are 4 different sizes of pistols that the P80 offers including subcompact, compact, single stock, full size and large frame.

For this I want to focus on compatibility with the Glock 19, 23, G17, 34, 17L, G22 (40S&W), 35, 24 and G31 (.357Sig).

Glock Wall Art

With so many abbreviations that we all see every day, it's impossible to know each one without looking it up. All P80 pistols are named based on the 5 different sizes available. There are many different color options depending on the size of gun you want, such as FDE, Cobalt, Gray, Black Nitride, Black and my favorite, Blue Titanium.

The PF940SC is a subcompact frame that fits the Glock 26 Gen 3 subcompact pistol. Like many who own a Glock 26 I know, it would be great to see more comfortable and practical replaceable parts with a baby Glock.

All P80 frames are constructed with an extended beavertail, double lower trigger guard and thumb rim to reduce recoil, prevent slipping and provide more room on the trigger guard for large fingers and gloved shooters in cold weather.

If you prefer to build your own pistol instead of modifying a Glock 26 frame, it's easy to do with the subcompact PF940SC slide block. The barrel and spring system are already assembled before the slide is shipped to you. You can't buy the PF940SC barrel separately, but if you're looking to replace your Glock 26 Gen 3 pistol with a new slide and barrel, here it is.

One of the reasons Glock is so popular is the limited number of moving parts in their pistols. Trying to copy a Glock can be difficult, but the P80 does a great job of providing the same ergonomics and performance as a Glock with its custom slide and trigger assembly.

You no longer have to be a gunsmith to build your own pistol, as some great companies like P80 make easy-to-understand kits for people without much gun experience. The best part about this trigger assembly kit is that it works with full size, compact (single stack) and subcompact 9mm models.

The SF940SC is designed for the Glock 26 and the P80 SF940C is designed for compatibility with Glock 19/23/43 parts. The PF series frames share similar features (extended beaver tail, double undercut trigger guard and thumb rim).
